chakra test

At certain points, I like to take a chakra test to gauge where I should concentrate on my self-awareness.

Here's a short version of how emotions affect the chakras:

How emotions affect the chakras

There are emotions and states that are able to close down chakras, if they're not processed adequately. Anodea Judith calls them 'demons' in her book 'Eastern Body, Western Mind'. The demons affect the 'rights' that are associated with the chakras.

1. Root Chakra
Fear
The right to be here
2. Sacral Chakra
Guilt
The right to feel
3. Navel Chakra
Shame
The right to act
4. Heart Chakra
Sorrow
The right to love and be loved
5. Throat Chakra
Lies
The right to speak and hear truth
6. Third Eye Chakra
Illusion
The right to see
7. Crown Chakra
Attachment
The right to know
Here are the results of my test:

Root Chakra is under-active which means that I tend to feel nervous in situations.

Sacral Chakra is over-active due to me being over-emotional. I know this and I wish I can control my emotions.

Navel Chakra is open and clear sailing. I feel confident in a group setting.

Heart Chakra is also open. I am compassionate and friendly, and I work at harmonious relationships.

Throat Chakra: Open. I have no problems expressing myself, and I might be doing so as an artist. Hmmm, I think I'm border line because I don't feel that I express myself that well. I do love taking photos and it does feel good when I get a couple of awesome shots.

Third Eye: Under active. I get confused easily and have a hard time thinking for myself. This is not so far from the truth.

Crown Chakra: under-active. I'm not very aware of spirituality. It also said that I'm rigid in my thinking. I'm still confused about that statement...see I'm confused again!! I think I may be rigid due to not stepping outside of the box much.

*********************************************

The Chakra that effects me the most is the sacral chakra. This is the chakra located in your belly. Which makes total sense. I am overweight by 4o lbs so I am a emotional eater. I don't even know I eat emotionally. I would like to clear that chakra and eat food to nourish my body, not my emotions. Being over-emotional is really stressful because it controls my life. I won't even get into the way I feel during "that time" of the month. I know diet and exercise help but I still feel over-emotional when I've been trying hard in those areas. When I am in full mood swing mode at "that time" of month, I am in denial that I'm exaggerating pretty much anything. That way of thinking is getting me nowhere. I have to stop acting in denial. Maybe meditation would help. If you have any feedback on this subject, please share with me your secrets!!!

MamaLaina TAKE #2008.

I too have done this "diet" thing about a million and a half times, and that was just last year! But this is it, this year I've set the bar high. I will achieve my goal this time, to be healthy and happy. I've set a weight goal, but if I don't get there, that's okay too. I have other goals for this year as well, that have more to do with my state of mind and my mental health.

That being said; here they are my goals for this year:

1. Go out at least twice a month...without my kids. I am starving for the company of friends and some ME time. I've achieved this goal for January already! Yay, me!

2. Lose weight, the healthy way. Eating whole foods, calorie counting and getting exercise. I've joined Sparkpeople http://www.sparkpeople.com/ to help me with my calorie counting and to provide me with a little support from fellow "losers".

3. Get regular exercise. I have set a goal of 15mins a day. My husband and I do Tae Bo (I'm sure he'd be pleased to know I'm posting that all over the Internet) every other day, and I do stability ball workouts or aerobic activity on off days.

4. Organize my house. I'm a stay at home mom of two pre-schoolers and my house is....well....average at best. I really need to purge and organize a few things. So I've decided I will de-clutter at least one area of my house at least once a month, and set a regular cleaning routine. This is a work in progress....I'll post more on this later.

Four little goals....with big payoff in the end.

I found this on the web the other day and I'm using it as pure motivation. Checkout http://www.mvm.com/ .

This is the virtual me at my current weight.
I haven't been this heavy in years, since before my daughter was born actually. I'm one of those horrible people you hear about who lose weight while they are pregnant (don't hate me). Last year my on again off again dieting resulted in a gain of 15lbs and I am 25lbs heavier than I was 2 years ago right after my son was born. I need to make a significant change in my habits and now is the time to do it!

Here's the virtual me at my goal weight. I met my husband 14years ago and this is what I looked. So next year at this time (15 years from the day we started dating), I AM going to look like this again or as close to it as a 30something mom of two can. This weight is attainable and achievable for me. It'll put me into size 9, nothing scary like a size 2. I've never set an ambitious goal like this before, I've always played it safe just wanting to be a 12 or 14.....but not this time. I'm thinking BIG and getting slim.

Wish us luck Jewel and I. We are here to support one another but would love some support from some other woman out there too. Let's all be healthier and happier in 2008!

first day on the job

I can't count on how many times I've tried this sort of thing. BUT I keep trying. I keep plugging along no matter where I am in my life. I want to better myself by living a healthier lifestyle.

These are my goals:

- exercise twice a week with my kickboxing class
- spend 2 hours outside in natural surroundings per week (will up to 10 hrs in nicer weather)
- have 2 portions of fruit or vegetables each meal or 6 portions a day
- omit fast food and sodas
- omit deep fried foods
- limit refined carbs (anything processed like bread, crackers, pasta)
- enjoy the occasional indulgence like chocolate, a rich coffee, a small bag of chips

I'm not setting a goal weight for myself as I believe that if you live a healthy lifestyle and you make efforts in that, you will be the size you are naturally meant to be.

I will also be posting ideas on activities, events, recipes and whatever else makes me feel great!

Take care!

Jewel
